Background: In 2010, Hayley Barna and Katia Beauchamp brought forward an innovative business model employing subscription retailing as a means for helping customers navigate their way through the sea of cosmetics products confronting them in the marketplace. A critical element of the Birchbox business model centers around the taking of a personal profile to tailor the contents of the boxes customers receive with samples of cosmetics selected to match their personal profile. What if it were possible for customers to not only receive cosmetics products selected to meet their needs but if it were possible for customers to also experience these products in ways they never dreamed were possible? Introducing BirchMirror, a new technology for impacting the experience of cosmetics in ways that take Birchbox one-step further in their mission to turn the world of cosmetics into a platform for pleasing customers.

The world of Omni Channel (Multi Channel) retailing is currently the focus of most retail companies and as new technologies develop, retailing will continue to change even faster. The consumer demands access to product 24/7. The retailer must be able to meet these demands. The consumer wants to have access to products and services via their smartphones, iPads, laptops etc. The shopping experience must be one that is entertaining and seamless for the customer.
